Message from Nodutdol for Korean Community Development

Nodutdol for Korean Community Development in New York, U.S.A. joins with Donginryun Solidarity for LGBT Human Rights of Korea in calling for human rights and justice for LGBT youth in South Korea.

We commemorate the tragic death of 19-year old Yook Woo-dang, a Korean youth who only wanted the end of homophobia and discrimination against LGBT people. Here in the United States, where LGBT youth have been bullied to the point of committing suicide too many times, we know what it is like to grieve lives cut too short because of injustice.

We envision a world where LGBT youth are supported and celebrated for who they are, rather than bullied, discriminated and oppressed. No person, institution or state should limit the dignity and human rights of LGBT youth. Together, with Donginryun, we demand that the South Korean Anti-Discrimination Law and Student Human Rights Ordinances prohibit all discrimination against sexual orientation and gender identity.
